New ICU nurse here. This book is great for learning. So many of my questions were answered. I highly recommend this to other nurses!
That should be the caption. As a third year medical resident, I was a little late on discovering this book but better late than never. It doesn't have the expansive explanation especially as far as pathophysiology is concerned as the "ICU book" from the same author but it does what it set out to do and then some. It provides quick management tips as well as the salient points for diagnosis. It is easy to read, easy to retain and easy to carry. However this book is a text book in its own right. The chapters follow the same set up as the big ICU book and similar to its parent, each chapter is full of references for further read. A great pleasure to read and a must have for any medicine resident or for those who are interested in more than simply surviving their ICU rotation.
This book is amazing! I wanted to buy it for a long time but it was kind of pricy. I finally decided to purchase it and it was so worth it! If you are hesitant, don't be. It is the best investment you can do. I love this book! I use it literally every day in my ICU, it covers a lot of stuff, short, to the point, everything you need to know. Easy read. I highly recommend.
This little book is one of the best additions to my Critical Care personal library. Well written, relevant, and applicable to daily patient care in an ICU. Small enough to carry for brushing up during downtime. Great jumping off point for further research in more detailed texts if a more complex understanding is needed. Invaluable to this Critical Care Nurse Practitioner of 5 years and translatable to others (Nurses, MDs, etc ) too!! Highly recommend!!
I love this book, I’m a new critical care NP.* short background on disease or what you are treating* what to treat with for each condition* pros & cons of each treatmentI carry this book with me every day. It is essential to my practice as I’m learning. Easy to read how it is broken into sections. I will buy another new version when it comes out.
I paid for a NEW book and received book with a beat up looking and scratched front and back covers. The spine of the book was broken in and the inside cover has dirt marks. The top corner of the book is bent. I am returning promptly and have requested brand new replacement. Hopefully, that is what I will receive.
This book is an excellent reference book to have in the ICU. Surprisingly readable, and most chapters are brief and to the point. In the age of UpToDate, it never hurts to have a text reference around that is tailored to ICU-specific problems you will encounter.
