I checked out this collection from the library numerous times before I finally looked for a copy for myself. In high school I only knew a couple composers/songwriters, and Gershwin was my favorite. After majoring in music, he is still my favorite. --Satisfying, accessible accompaniments.
The selections are quite challenging,but so worth it.
Good collection -- great selection of songs in singable keys. The accompaniments are not difficult but are harder than beginner level.

I guess I should have asked, but I read all the reviews and no mention was made that this is for the "beginning" piano player. I'm not "concert" talent but this is for someone just beginning......say two/three years........(think, "big notes")so............I was disappointed. If you're just looking for vocal/guitar music, this might fill the bill.I returned the book and was given full credit. Nice to deal with an understanding seller.
Ordinary arrangements, fine song selection, pretty inexpensive. This one gets to four stars because it's the only collection with the finale to Porgy & Bess, "Oh Lawd I'm On My Way," in Piano / Vocal format with chords. Better collection is the Albert Sirmay-edited "George & Ira Gershwin Songbook."
Book arrived in timely fashion, was in excellent condition, and at a very reasonable price, all as advertised. I'm very happy with this purchase.
I think this is a good book for beginning//intermediate adults. There are songs at many levels and they are of course, great songs!
