so for some reason some people keep thinking this is a novel. i would just like to clarify that Quentin Tarantino aside from "Jackie Brown" has always written stuff 100% from his mind so this in fact is not a novel, but it's a screenplay. and if you didn't know what a screenplay is, it's the script for the movie and what the movie is based off of. but don't worry. don't listen to the people that have been giving it two or one star reviews, because this screenplay reads like a novel. one thing that a great book does is have amazing detail, wittiness, and great descriptiveness. and this is what this script does. the dialogues and monologues are filled with great wit, incredibly funny dark humor, and the awesome over the top bloody violence that every Tarantino movie has. this screenplay like every other screenplay also comes with stage direction. what stage directions is, if you didn't know, is what the the actor and film crew follow so they know exactly what to do and so the actor knows what the character is like. so it just adds to the great experience. but no matter what you think this product is, you are getting something awesome, though i'm pretty sure you know it's a script by now.p.s. sorry for all the run on sentences and grammar mistakes
I was at first a little disappointed that it was written like a screenplay. But as one reads along, it's totally forgotten. There are some extra lines, back rounds fleshed a little, & extra tidbits that didn't make it into the movie. I bought Mr. Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction screenplay books. Haven't started yet, but looking forward to them. Quentin Tarantino is a great story teller, he always leaves me wanting to know more about the characters and making me surmise my own theories.
This was a great read. I would recommend this to anybody who loves reading scripts, and wants to experience one of Tarantino's. When you're reading his scripts, you feel like he's specifically telling the story to you; like you're reading a novel from a powerful narrator, or hearing someone tell you a campfire story.If you didn't go see the movie yet, I'd recommend to read it first because there are a few things that were left out of the film which are in the script that I find great.This is an insanely powerful story. Enjoy it!
At first I was disappointed that the book was written as a screenplay but I read it in a few hours so I ended up liking it more than first thought.Only problem is now I know what happens in the movie!
Still reading it, but it's great so far. If you like Tarantino, it's in your wheelhouse.The biggest thing I'll say is not on the content (because you know it's good). It's the fact that this screenplay has a nice cover and "feels" like a book. Easy to read in bed.
It is practically just like the movie, so if you like the movie then you will love the script
