Since I had started reading Sundari Venkatraman’s romances this would be the first time I had to wait this long to read her book. Better late than never.Trying to start afresh after a meaningless married life Saloni least expected Aarav to bestow upon her so much love and affection. The sweetness is so overwhelming, with Aarav not expecting anything in return even after giving up on marriage when his first and only love Saloni had got married.A beautifully woven love story with a sweet catalyst Mitesh to just add up the love quotient.
As a fan of Sundari Venkatraman’s books, I couldn’t miss this new release that promised to be a ‘perfect’ read. As usual, the author delivered.At first, everything in Saloni’s life seems to be as far from ‘perfect’ as it could be: Sure, she’s married, but unhappily so. Her husband is an uncaring, conservative, career-oriented fool. One of those NRIs who pretend to be all modern and successful but have never left the confines of narrow-minded Asian thinking behind. To him, a wife is a nothing more than a servant. I could almost—almost!—forgive him that because it’s so common, but on top of that he also completely ignores his infant son. Oh, how I hate this Manish monster who doesn’t deserve to be called a man or husband! I’m damn glad Saloni chooses to leave him, consequences be damned.As for Saloni, she’s got a strong will and quite some sass once she comes out of her shell. She loves her son and values her education, and so she embarks on a quest to find herself and a better purpose in life. It was lovely seeing her come into her own, with some encouragement from her wonderful grandmother and some help from Aarav.Ah, Aarav. The hero, who nearly is ‘perfect’ indeed. Hot, intelligent, successful, determined and caring, he’s all Sal could have wished for and a much better choice for a husband. I loved his humble background and how he understands Saloni to a T.I enjoyed this novella with its breezy pace, emotional undercurrent and modern outlook on marriages, relationships, family dynamics and feminism. Off and on, there was some head-hopping and a scene that could’ve been better fleshed-out – but then, this isn’t a long novel and it fits with the author’s popular style. I can recommend this book to everyone fond of strong women, Indian romance with a steamy touch, and totally swoonworthy heroes.
There is a simplicity in this story. While the heat quotient is decently high you can't help but root for the chemistry between Aarav and Saloni. On the other hand, there is another factor in this story. Salon's young son, Mitesh. How does a man accept another man's child without feeling any jealousy? Again I can say that Sundari Venkatraman, has touched or rather taken this part for granted in her story.
